John W. Pollock was born in Penn. on March 1, 1919 and enlisted in the Army at Spokane, Wash. on April 3, 1941. At the time of enlistment he was unmarried, had completed two years of high school and working as a lumberman. Pollock joined the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Lewis, Wash. and also served at Camp Hale (Colo.) and Camp Swift (Tex.).
